Who is Jesus to you?

How often do we ask the question; Who is Jesus to you?
Do we even know what people think of Jesus?
A grandmother, her 20 year old granddaughter and great grandchildren were sitting in a park. This exact question was posed. Something interesting happened.
The grandmother answered right away. "Jesus is my everything. I talk to Him like a friend. Sometimes even out loud like we are talking now",she says. "In my troubles I talk to Him, in my joys I talk to Him, and I always praise God and give thanks for what God has given me." Now this grandmother has diabetes and is blind in one eye and the other is almost blind as well. She has had several things health wise wrong with her.
This is not the interesting part.
The 20 year old granddaughter responds as well. "I don't really know she says. I mean I sort of believe something created us but I can't understand how one thing could do that." The question was posed again, But who is Jesus to you? She said, "Kind of like a good neighbor, when I need something I can ask him, but nothing more than that." She continued to go on, "Once my grandmother got sick I was confused. She always did good and seemed to love Jesus. If God is so great and loves us so much why would He allow this to happen? There can't be a loving God that allows all this suffering. So I stick with Karma and not really Jesus."
Now I know your all hoping there is a redemptive story here, you probably have the answer right at the tip of your tongue. Don't worry there was a rather good conversation and prayer that followed. However, that's not why I'm writing today.
Did you notice something? Look at the two stories. The one with the struggles is not asking the question, "Why"? And She has a relationship with Jesus. The one without the struggles is asking, Why? She has no relationship with Jesus!
That is interesting to me. Wouldn't you think that if the person with struggles is rejoicing in Jesus, the person without should not be questioning God when it come to struggles? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
This led to some questions. How are we representing Jesus? Why is it that the person in pain loves Jesus, and the person without pain is questioning God and why He would allow pain?
What are we doing wrong? Are we representing Jesus as a magic potion to a great life? Or are we representing Jesus as a loving savior who through all our struggles, pains, and joys is there with open arms calling out to us and who loves us no matter what? Is Jesus used as a tool, or lived with in relationship?
Who is Jesus to you?

Earthquake

I got a message from a friend today who is in Puerto Rico. There was a 5.8 earthquake today that hit there. I'm not really sure how this works but when God told me the mountains of Puerto Rico were going to shake, this is not what I had in mind! Please pray for all of those effected by this. There doesn't seem to be any physical damage but she said it was really scary. I'm sure there is some emotional damage with these. I've never experienced one myself but I can only imagine.

In time of crisis who do we turn to? Who do we give our fear to? Do we hold onto our fear, or do we give it to Jesus? I've found out that if I hold onto my fear, I am always afraid. But, when I decided to give my fear to Jesus, fear seemed to just vanish! I can't really explain it other than, well, Jesus!

What are you afraid of? Is a God calling you to do something that is causing fear? Fear is only a lie satan tries to use to stop us from doing what we have been made to do. Don't let fear get the best of you. Let Jesus overtake you and you WILL be fearless!

Check out 2 Corinthians 5:16-21
Go ahead, be fearless for Jesus because that is what you were designed to be!

Good morning. To streamline communications about what is going on in Puerto Rico and what God is calling my family and I to do we will be using this blog to post updates and cool stuff God is doing. Please check this blog for regular updates on happenings and testimonies of Jesus moving through our lives and those in Puerto Rico.
The only reason this blog has been created is because there seems to be an interest in what God is doing through us in Puerto Rico. The second anyone, including myself, starts to think it is anything special that we are doing, the movement is going to stop. Jesus is the only reason and only way we are able to do what God has allowed us to do. There is power in the name of Jesus and we have experienced it first hand. When followers of Jesus stop what we are doing and what the world thinks we should be doing and listen to God's voice, we hear Him. When we listen to His voice and do what He says, amazing things happen. When we start to realize the amazing power we as Jesus followers have in the name of Jesus we can change the world!
In Matthew 19:26 Jesus tells us that "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Now Jesus is talking about the salvation of others here; however, this can be applied to any number of scenarios in which glorify God. For Jesus also says in John 14:13, "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
Jesus is the one who gives those who follow Him what ever it is they ask for in order to glorify God! So, what we are doing is nothing short of what Jesus said He will do.
We thank you all for your support and we cannot wait to give you continued updates of what we see Jesus do.
